GET /v1/vehicles/manufacturers

Makes and the three-character manufacturer identifiers (WMIs) their VINs start with. The first three characters of a VIN identify the manufacturer. A make usually has several identifiers, for different manufacturers, countries or vehicle types.

Use it to show which identifiers a make uses, or to find the make for the first three characters of a VIN. A Vehicle field sets the identifier of each VIN it generates, so a request does not use these values.

Request

Query parameter Required Default Description
vehicleType No none Lists only identifiers assigned to this vehicle type. Repeat it to allow several types. See VehicleType. Omit for every type.
curl "https://api.alchemy.example/v1/vehicles/manufacturers?vehicleType=PassengerCar&vehicleType=MultipurposePassengerVehicle" \
  -H "X-Api-Key: YOUR_API_KEY"

Response

An array of { make, countries, vehicleTypes, wmis }, alphabetical by make. wmis are the identifiers the make's VINs start with, countries are the countries those identifiers are assigned to, and vehicleTypes are the vehicle types those identifiers are assigned to. With vehicleType set, each list contains only the values for the requested types, and a make with none of them is not included.
